Socrates
Socrates was born in Athens, which was the center of knowledge in that time one of the most important cities. He is one of the most important philosophers of all times.
Socrates was an old ugly guy, and in that time that was not accepted because they want perfection. This cause the inclination of Socrates to philosophy because he was very intelligent and was a master of argumentation, he was capable to give validation to anything he say. There’s when the people start talking about inner beauty.
He was the first in use the word philosophy, by criticizing the sophists that was the persons who teach people explaining the world but receiving a pay. And Socrates was against it, he say that “wisdom should not be charged”. So he started to give speeches in the streets, free classes, for anyone.
Socrates was very important because he start to talk about society, all what you need to conform a society and he talk about something important and is that societies are not perfect because they are not organized in the right way, but also he say that the cities are the only key to learn he don’t care about nature, and the reason is the way think with a purpose.
He is almost the first one in talk about ethics, which is the good and bad things, and he start to ask himself how we decide what is good and what is bad, how we categorize the right and wrong things. So he talks about the Devine voice, which was the voice of reason this can tell us, guide us to do good and there for we can be happy.
People against Socrates, start to accuse him of perverting the Childs and of introducing new gods (Devine voice) so he was forced to commit suicide.
With his dead the people start to think with divergence, they explore, and then there appears many philosophical schools.
So Socrates was very important because he start to fight against the system and a specific way to see and understand the world, and he break it and create many ways to see the world, he leave a legacy, and the opportunity to keep growing and understanding with other philosophers and disciples like Plato, he leave a system of knowledge and learning and knowing according to the necessity of all the people. He is a revolutionary man like Jesus.
Naturalism (VIII B. C. E)
In this epoch, the people and more specifically men’s with knowledge, thinkers, have a very important question that was, what is nature made of? And this is the essence of naturalism to explain nature, they characteristics the reality that represents.
This was a revolutionary question, because after that almost everything was explained trough myth, magic and gods. All the people in this time believe in this type of things. So this question was controversial and disturbing for some people because it is trying to explain the reality, so they start making theories and hypothesis about what really is nature made of.
And there comes a theory call the atomic theory proposed by anaximandros. This theory explain us how stuffs work, and what make, for example an apple being an apple, is trying to explain the essence of the apple. This theory says that we and all things are made of tiny and indivisible pieces that put together and form something. This theory comes because of the necessity of human to explain the world, to understand it, to explain the essence of all type of things and exposing the human as other part, other element of the nature. This movement or way to expressing, open doors for humanity to investigate and understand

philosophy class of monday 23 november 2009
Philosophy
the class of the past Monday was about, what is philosophy, what represents, some characteristics, were comes and what means the word philosophy, and what represents.
The history actually starts when the writing appear, then we can know what happens, how it happens, where it happens, why it happens etc.
The word philosophy was created by Socrates in Greece in the V B.C century, philosophy is the union of two words in Latin, Philos: love and Sophia: knowledge.
•Philosophy has some characteristics:
•Is not something that has existed
•Does not care about the truth
•Create problems
•Everybody is related to philosophy because philosophy is thinking and everybody thinks (even the drug addicts)
This last one is very important because every single person thinks even if it don´t seems, since the most insignificant thought like, “I like chocolate because is sweet” to a more complex thought like “I think because I exist” (Cogito ergo sum, René Descartes) so every single person creates different problems and then solve them.
I like the fact that as Carolina Velasco said: "philosophy will exist as long as humans exist" because we never will find the solution of all our problems because philosophy establishes problems and then we can grow as specie because our natural curiosity and our constant desire of knowledge. Philosophy give means to problems, it Sais how con we solve it and there for we can expand our knowledge through the different types of sciences like physics, chemistry etc .the philosophy is the human invention to have the option of new problems and there for we can have more information and we can try to satisfy our desire of more.
